The photos show characters James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) and Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton) finally walk down the aisle and say ‘I do’ in the upcoming series.

Bosses of the Channel 5 drama have teased that it will be a big series for loved-up pair after the couple’s relationship has suffered several setbacks in previous series.

Cast were seen celebrating on the set in Yorkshire as it has been revealed that the two characters get engaged in series three and go on to get married.

Rachel was seen in a beautiful wedding gown carrying a bouquet of flowers while Nicholas looked dapper in a suit.

Producer Ben Vanstone told The Mirror: ‘In season three, Helen and James have become engaged, so I think it’s fair to say there may be a marriage on the horizon, perhaps. It’s 1939, so it will come as no surprise that war is looming and that will increasingly cast a shadow over our characters’ lives

‘Ultimately, our show is about Darrowby and the world of the Yorkshire Dales and the farmers within it.

Ben added: ‘There’s a great horse story in episode three, which is really moving, and I think it’s going to be fantastic. We don’t have any lambs in spring this year, come to think of it, but someone in Skeldale House might get a new pet.’

The drama follows the life of veterinarian James, who has moved to the Yorkshire Dales.

Opening up about James and Helen’s relationship, actress Rachel teased that it will be ‘nice to watch’ their romance blossom.

‘Ultimately, as individuals, they are very caring, compassionate people, and care about each other, and the wellbeing of each other is at the forefront of everything they do,’ she said.

‘It’s a step tenderly towards the direction of where we all know it’s going, but it isn’t straightforward, but it will be nice to watch.’
