So, if you’re in the market for a new iPhone here are the biggest upgrades coming to the entry-level mini and iPhone 13. First up, the single biggest change you’ll instantly notice on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini is a new look to the camera system. These improved lenses have now been moved into a diagonal pattern on the rear case with Apple promising improved pictures from this upgraded snapper. In fact, the wide-angle lens now gets the impressive sensor-shift optical image stabilisation that was found on last year’s 12 Pro model. This boost the performance and image quality especially when taking images in low light.

Apple is also adding a clever Cinematic mode that can automatically change the focus when shooting movies making it simple to create your own mini-masterpiece.  For creative control, the focus can even be changed during and after capture, and users can also adjust the level of bokeh in the Photos app and iMovie for iOS. Speilberg had better watch out!

Tucked under the shell is that latest and greatest A15 Bionic processor which is now much, much faster than before meaning it should be able to cope with the latest games and applications. Apple is boasting that it crushes the competition with speeds that are 50 percent better than its Android rivals.

Along with being far quicker, the A15 is also more efficient meaning users can expect to see around 1.5 hours extra life. That’s a huge bonus with Apple boosting things further with via a bigger power pack under the aluminium and glass hood.

When it comes to the nightly Netflix binge the OLED XDR screens have also been upgraded on both phones with Apple promising punchy colours and much richer blacks. The displays also get brighter allowing you to see content even in the midday sunshine. Another nice change is that Apple has reduced the notch meaning there’s more space for your content.

Just like last year, these new iPhones can connect to the latest 5G data speeds and are IP68 water-resistant although the firm has now ditched the 64GB model and replaced it with 128 GB of storage as standard.

“Our customers rely on iPhone every day, which is why we’ve made iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini more powerful, more capable, and more fun to use,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Both phones have beautiful designs, industry-leading performance, and advanced camera systems with impressive computational photography features, all with incredible durability, water resistance, and a big jump in battery life to ensure customers can depend on their iPhone when they need it. All of this, tightly integrated with iOS 15 and with privacy built in, make iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini an unbeatable choice.”

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available in Pink, Blue, Midnight, Starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED with prices starting from £679.
