Giovanna Fletcher has revealed she’s damaged one of her fingers, sharing a snap to Instagram on Saturday where her hand is bandaged up.

The author, 37, previously injured her ankle which forced her to temporarily bow out of her role in the West End play 2:22 A Ghost Story. 

Pulling an unamused expression for a selfie, the wife of McFly’s Tom Fletcher confessed she had been taking a brick wall down when the accident happened.

‘Well, things have taken a turn and one of my fingers has taken me out of the wall-knocking-down game. At least it’s not broken. Doh!!! Xxxx.’

Back in January, Giovanna announced she had injured her ankle and would temporarily bow out of her role in the Laurence Olivier nominated production.

The TV star had replaced Lily Allen in the lead role of Jenny but told how she will be absent for the next while after hurting her ankle.

Taking to Instagram at the time, she shared a snap of her leg in a cast along with a photo of her bruised ankle.

Alongside the post, she wrote: ‘Not quite how I imagined ending 2021 and starting the 2022, but there we go…

‘I somehow managed to roll over on my ankle mid-show on Thursday. The big crunch I heard and subsequent pain have brought me to this new accessory.

‘Needless to say I’m missing from @222aghoststory at the moment. To say I’m devastated not to be there is an understatement and at this point I think my heart hurts far more than my ankle.

‘I’m resting up and doing all I can to be back on stage with @stephaniebeatriz, @buxtagram and @lostwaxprocess ASAP, but in the meantime I’m delighted that audiences get to see the wonderful @handyrhi shine as Jenny.

‘I feel so lucky to be part of such a supportive company (cast, crew, FOH and production) who’ve done all they can to help, and can’t wait to return soon! Xx’.

It was announced in November that Giovanna would be replacing Lily for a new run of the West End show.

The singer won rave reviews for her role in the original production, which marked her West End debut. The ten week run also featured EastEnders’ Jake Wood and theatre star Hadley Fraser.

Podcast host Giovanna trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, where she met her husband, McFly star Tom Fletcher, but has spent much of her career away from acting, concentrating on her acclaimed novels and TV work. 

‘I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of 2:22 – A Ghost Story as Jenny,’ Giovanna said in a statement at the time. 

‘Reading the script the first time gave me chills – that feeling has increased in subsequent readings.

‘It’s such an honour to be putting this play on its feet for a West End audience.’

She added in an emotional Instagram post confirming her casting: ‘Someone pinch me. On reflection, please don’t! What a dream!’
