Are these society’s most glamorous godmothers? Financier Ben Goldsmith, 41, and his wife, model-turned-caterer Jemima Jones, 33, held the christening of their 23-month-old daughter, Vita, at the weekend with not one, not two, but four godmothers.
‘We did have one godfather as well,’ the son of late billionaire Sir James Goldsmith tells me. ‘Unfortunately, he was abroad, so couldn’t be there.’
The service was held at St John the Baptist, South Brewham, near the Goldsmiths’ farm in Somerset.

And the glam godmothers were: Lucy Carr-Ellison, who runs an upmarket catering business, Tart London, with Jemima; art impresario Hikari Yokoyama, fiancee of White Cube gallery founder Jay Jopling; Violet von Westenholz, daughter of Prince Charles’s skiing pal Baron Piers von Westenholz; and Sophie Oakley, wife of art expert Oscar Humphries.
The absent godfather was Gerald Wellesley, 40-year-old grandson of the 8th Duke of Wellington.
By way of apology for his absence, Gerald could ask his brother-in-law, the You’re Beautiful pop star James Blunt, to sing baby Vita a lullaby.

Meghan Markle was said to be upset when told she had to give up social media on marrying into the Royal Family, but Princess Anne is delighted to avoid digital technology.
Meaghan Kall, of the UK Health Security Agency, has revealed that, while she was being honoured as a ‘Covid unsung hero’ at Windsor Castle last month, she asked the Princess Royal if they could connect on Twitter.
Anne replied: ‘Goodness me, no! I don’t even have an email account.’
Why Linda, 74, is a model mum to Kate
Women often dread turning into their mothers but, in Kate Moss’s case, that would be no hardship.
The supermodel, 48, was joined at a London party by her mum, Linda Shepherd, who looks far younger than her 74 years.
With her high cheekbones and blonde hair, there was no mistaking the family resemblance. Moss is rarely photographed with Linda, a greengrocer’s daughter, but the pair are said to be very close. She divorced the model’s father, Peter, when Kate was 13.
Moss has said her mother never considered her photogenic as a child. ‘She was like, ‘Kate, do you really think you can be a model?’
