Big Brother's Jaycee Edwards reveals shocking secrets behind the Channel Seven show

Big Brother’s Jaycee Edwards reveals shocking secrets behind the Channel Seven show: ‘It gets hectic in there’

Big Brother’s Jaycee Edwards has shared secrets from his time inside the reality TV house, and he’s revealed housemates don’t actually hear the Big Brother voice inside the compound.

The newly evicted star, who left the house earlier this week, revealed producers step in to speak to the housemates instead of the voice that’s heard by viewers.

‘It’s not always the same Big Brother. There’s people that take the ship. It’s always introduced as Big Brother, but it’ll be a different voice sometimes,’ he told Yahoo Lifestyle.

He also explained that the drama over the shopping budget and food was real and driven by the housemates ‘hungry belly all the time’.

‘It’s genuine. That’s how bad you want the shopping budget, you see the challenges and people were sacrificing their calls from home and their letters from home for $80 towards the shopping budget. That goes to show how hectic it is in there,’ he went on.

It comes after retail store manager Gabbie Keevill, who finished this season in eighth place, said that some housemates were ‘terrible at cooking’ and they had to be removed from the kitchen.

‘Some people’s cooking was absolutely shocking. And bless them, they can be beautiful people obviously, but sometimes it was like you — come out of the kitchen,’ she recalled.

It comes after Tully Smyth explained there’s not one camera in the laundry and that housemates ‘aren’t meant to have conversations in there’.

She added to a popular Big Brother forum that there was a ‘full on lighting rig up there [in the house] including ‘scaffolding and lights and huge white reflectors’.

Elsewhere, Estelle Landy said that ‘the bright overhead lights f**ked with me’.

It comes as Anthony Drew exposed surprising production secrets from behind the scenes of Big Brother Australia.

Speaking to 7Entertainment earlier this month following his eviction, the 33-year-old revealed that a number of scenes this season were actually faked.

Drew, who first competed on Big Brother in 2013, said the housemates were forced to reshoot certain scenes because the ‘OG stars’ kept ruining the show’s secrets for the first-time contestants.

‘[The original housemates would say], “This wasn’t what we used to have to do,” or they’d try to guess or spoil the surprises for the newbies that have never gone through things and… might not have expected twists, turns and how production sort of works,’ Drew said.

‘So that was annoying,’ he added.

Drew in particular blamed Tully Smyth and Estelle Landy for correctly guessing many of the competition’s twists before they happened.

‘So, we had to reshoot a couple of “look excited, housemates” type of takes,’ he said.
