Bob Saget's star-studded tribute special will be released on the Netflix streaming service in June

A star-studded tribute to Bob Saget that was filmed at The Comedy Store in late January will make its debut on Netflix this coming June, according to TMZ.

Chris Rock, John Mayer, John Stamos, Jim Carrey, Seth Green, Kevin Nealon, Darren Criss, Jeff Ross and even Saget’s widow Kelly Rizzo were a part of the show.

The announcement about the live comedy film was made by one of the late comedian’s friends, Mike Binder, during an appearance on the Dystopia Tonight! with John Poveromo podcast.

The former Full House star passed away this past January at the age of 65 after he suffered blunt force trauma to his head from an alleged accidental fall in his hotel room near Williamsburg, Florida.

During the podcast, Binder, 63, pointed out that the special was filmed not long after services were held for Saget.

‘It was a crazy time, putting together the funeral and the memorial for friends, and then we did a little thing in the Belly room at The Comedy Store, and then we did a big thing, and I filmed it all,’ he said.

The late comedian’s friend did note that, although not all of the intended guests made it to the event, many invitees did.

‘I called a bunch of people and a lot of them didn’t show. A lot of them did, I said, but the right people are going to show and it’s going to be perfect,’ he said.

Binder then recalled that ‘Jackson Browne and John Mayer were our house band and [John] Stamos and [Jeff] Ross hosted it.’

The media personality then pointed out that Jim Carrey, who was also present, was unusually involved during the event.

‘A lot of times at these events, Jim just comes and hangs out on the back wall and watches…Jim came out on stage with Jeff at the beginning and basically never left the whole night,’ he said.

Binder went on to note that he had taped the entire event and that he took it to the streaming platform in an effort to share it with the public.

‘It was a magical night and…we filmed it. I showed it to Netflix and I said “look at this, just 16 minutes of this.”‘

He remarked that the streaming service’s head of comedy ‘just said “this is remarkable,” and they bought it as a special, it airs the first week of June.’

Binder then shared a prospective timeline for the release of the forthcoming tribute.

‘We’re doing a live event the last night of the Netflix is a Joke comedy festival…and then it airs four nights later on Netflix,’ he recalled.

The comedian quipped: ‘I think it’s sad that the motherf***** had to die to get [Jim] Carrey back on stage.’

The performer jokingly stated that he would then ‘kill Eddie Murphy to get you on stage next week.’

Saget was found dead in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes on January 9.

A funeral was held for the late comedian on January 14, and many of his former costars and friends attended the event.

The performer was subsequently laid to rest at the Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.

An autopsy report was later released, and it was determined that Saget likely suffered blunt force trauma after slipping and hitting his head in his hotel room.
