She told The Sun: ‘On my first day, I was like, “OK, first day as a leading lady, got to eat lots of food, be really energised.”

‘So, I had this massive portion of salmon and that’s when I needed to be sick, basically because I was wearing the corset.

‘I realised when you wear the corset, you just don’t eat. It changes your body. I had a smaller waist momentarily.’

It comes after Simone declared herself a ‘Bridgerton girl now’ as she sat down for a tell-all interview about the smash hit period drama.

She stepped into the leading lady role for the second series of the cult favourite and confirmed she will reprise the role for the third instalment.

However, there is sad news for Sex Education fans as the actress revealed to This Morning’s Vernon Kay and Josie Gibson on Tuesday that she will not be returning as Olivia Hanan in the fourth series of the comedy drama.

Talking to the hosts about how she bagged the sought-after role in Bridgerton, Simone said: ‘It was all a whirlwind; it happened In two weeks.

‘I sent in some self-tapes the first week and by the second I was meeting with Jonny [Jonathan Bailey] for a chemistry test.

‘Everyone knew about the show and was talking about it and was wondering what would happen in season two, but I had to keep it quiet for a few days.’

Vernon, 47, quizzed her on whether the legacy of the debut series applied the pressure.

‘It was so weird; we were in our own little bubble. Our first scene we filmed was such a warm vibe and bubble to step into. Our first episode we filmed was the races in season two so it was great, you forget about all the pressure,’ she replied.

The star explained how she is ‘trying to live in the moment of it all’ as her prominence in the limelight intensifies.

She said: ‘The hotel I stayed in LA, I saw mine, Jonny and Carithra [Chandran’s] face on a billboard out the window.

‘It was so weird, in a nice way, I was really proud of everyone. It was a weird feeling, I guess. I’m just trying to live in the moment of it all and have fun with it.’

Simone stars opposite leading man Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey, and she was highly complimentary of her co-star.

‘He is such a wonderful person, wonderful friend – we have a great chemistry together,’ she gushed.

Horse riding – a profound element of the show – is not a skill she was equipped with prior to filming but ‘loves’ it now.

‘I’d never done it before except once. I was in horse riding bootcamp for the show!’ she said.
