Catherine Tyldesley is unrecognisable in a brown bob wig and baggy pyjamas while filming project

Catherine Tyldesley looked completely unrecognisable while pictured filming scenes for a mystery project in Manchester on Saturday.

The ex Coronation Street star, 38, disguised herself in a brown bob wig and oversized glasses held together with a plaster, having drawn on a monobrow.

She wore a pink zip-up jacket above a baggy white top and floral pyjama bottoms as she became elderly woman Olga Smith, who she has portrayed on Instagram before.

Character Olga is the leader of neighbourhood watch at Footsworth Committee Parish where she performs dance videos and interviews fictional politicians.

Catherine looked pained while pulling a series of strained expressions as she hunched over while filming on the streets of the city.

Catherine tried to tout food to locals as she held up a bowl after whipping a dish with the help of a street vendor.

It comes after Catherine Tyldesley shared her daughter’s name.

After giving birth to her baby girl last month, the actress starred in a Hello! Magazine shoot with her baby girl, revealing she and husband Tom Pitfield have named their second child Iris Ella.

Catherine explained that she played a character called Iris Moss in the BBC drama Lilies in 2007 and she had ‘loved it ever since”. Their daughter’s middle name Ella is a tribute to Pitfield’s late grandmother.

Already mum to son Alfie, six, she announced she was expecting her second child in October last year.

Sharing the birth announcement last month, the soap star shared a sweet black and white snap of her newborn’s feet, as she told fans ‘we are overjoyed that our family is complete.’

‘We are so happy to announce that our beautiful daughter has arrived. We are grateful beyond words and feel overjoyed that our family is complete,’ Catherine wrote alongside the image of her daughter.

Two weeks before the birth Catherine took to Instagram to reveal her pregnancy felt as long as that of an elephants, writing:

‘Apparently an African Bush Elephant is pregnant for 22 months!!!! I fear that my body may have me confused with an elephant!’

‘It feels like I’ve been pregnant since 1942…cherishing PJs, a bump and copious amounts of pineapple while I can!’

Speaking last year about her pregnancy, Catherine said that although little Alfie wasn’t too keen on the idea of being a big brother at first, he had come around.

‘We were a bit nervous, because I remember asking him a while back ”would you like a brother or sister?” and his response was ”mummy I’d rather you didn’t”,’ she laughed.

‘We waited until after the 12 week scan to tell him and he took it really well. He was super excited and we were thrilled to bits.’

Catherine and her husband announced that they were expecting their second child in October but admitted during her pregnancy that they hadn’t thought of any names yet.

Speaking to OK! after the announcement, Catherine gushed: ‘We’re absolutely elated. We feel so lucky. When we found out, I just burst into tears’.

The pregnancy came after the star struggled with two years of experiencing phantom pregnancy symptoms, due to a hormonal imbalance.

‘I took so many tests as I was convinced I was actually pregnant, but in fact my body was just mimicking a pregnancy,’ she said. ‘So this time, even when my stomach was a bit swollen, I just thought: Oh hormonal imbalances again!

‘Tom was in bits when we found out we are having a little girl. He has suddenly gone all mushy. I’m sure she will have him wrapped around her little finger.’

Catherine and Tom had a whirlwind romance, and after only four months of dating discovered they were expecting their son Alfie.

Speaking to The Mirror’s Notebook magazine, the actress said the meeting Tom ‘was so, so out of the blue. I’m dead lucky. He ticks every box’.

Of their surprise pregnancy, she admitted ‘it was a shock for us but we were both ready. The fact that I wasn’t nervous about telling him proved a point in my head that he was the right guy for me.’

The couple married in a Cheshire ceremony one year after welcoming their son.
