Coronation Street to air ANOTHER extra episode this week before National Moment of Reflection for Queen Elizabeth II

Coronation Street is set to air another extra episode this weekend before the National Moment of Reflection for Queen Elizabeth II.

The soap, along with many other TV programmes, had episodes taken off air after Her Majesty passed away peacefully on September 8, aged 96.

ITV changed their scheduled to make room for events leading up to the monarch’s funeral, with Coronation Street now airing at 7PM on Sunday in order to catch up.

The National Moment of Reflection will take place after the soap, at 8PM, with the government inviting the public to take part in a one minutes silence ahead of the Queen’s State Funeral on Monday.

The government’s website states: ‘The National Moment of Reflection will take place at 8pm on Sunday 18 September, the night before the State Funeral, and be marked by a one-minute silence.

‘The silence can be marked privately at home, with friends and family, out on doorsteps or the street with neighbours, or at locally arranged community events and vigils.’

It comes following the new that Coronation Street and Emmerdale also aired extra episodes on Thursday evening after a huge schedule shake-up.

Both soaps were removed from their planned slots on Friday, with Emmerdale catching with a triple marathon of shows.

The empty space came after ITV announced that they were postponing the National Television Awards until 13th October, as a mark of respect ahead of the Queen’s funeral.

Viewers were treated to three episodes of Emmerdale in a row, airing from 7:30pm to 9pm.

It was followed by an hour-long episode of Coronation Street, that was originally due to air on Wednesday.

Emmerdale had previously returned to screens in an unexpected Sunday evening slot, broadcasting the episode that was due to air on Friday (September 9), before being pulled following the Queen’s death.
