Sensational: The BBC presenter and his family visited many of the stunning sites in Rome
Dan wrote alongside his upload: ‘Well… we’ve had a lovely little family trip to Rome during half-term. I’ve been there covering sporting events before but never had a good look around. It’s basically like a giant museum!
‘So much to see and the food was [yummy]. On the grub issue… Suppli are actually amazing – little fried parcels of rice with mozzarella inside and the focaccia we found from Forno Campo de’ Fioro was out of this world.
‘And… thank you to the gorgeous Riya & Asha who passed me this letter at the end of our flight. I had a lovely chat with them and they were incredibly polite. As promised, I will tell @nadiyabychkova that we were their [Strictly] favourites.
‘Take care in the wind out there everyone. P.S. I haven’t left BBC Breakfast… I was just on holiday.’

The getaway comes after sources confirmed to The Times that Dan will no longer endorse products on his Instagram and Twitter accounts to avoid the inaccurate perception of paid promotion.
The presenter has previously endorsed British sports brand Castore and handcrafted shoe specialists Oliver Sweeney on social media.
While it’s understood that Dan does not have commercial agreements in place with any of the brands featured on his social media platforms, questions have been raised regarding a potential conflict of interests with his BBC employers.
Editorial guidelines for the broadcasting giant stipulate that: ‘On-air talent on news, current affairs and business programmes are not permitted to take part in any promotional activity for third parties.’
Brands commonly pay public figures with large social media followings to endorse their products, although Instagram guidelines stipulate that all sponsored posts should be clearly referenced as such.
No such clarification appears on Dan’s posts, however the absence of any official deal means there is no third party expectation for him to post and promote on social media in exchange for payment.
