The Corbyn ally said she was “amazed” to see the Labour leader come out in support of the UK-EU agreement. Hours after Boris Johnson announced the deal on Christmas Eve, Sir Keir said he would vote for the “thin” deal as it would be better than a no-deal Brexit, and called on all Labour MPs to follow suit.
The MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington told the Sydney Morning Herald: “I will not be voting for Boris’s Brexit deal.
“Like many Labour MPs, I was amazed that the Labour leader Keir Starmer announced that we were going to vote for the deal when nobody on the Labour side had actually seen it.
“Now we have seen the deal, I believe that it will surely unravel and Labour should not be endorsing it.”
MPs will debate over and vote on the deal in a special sitting of the Commons on Wednesday.
The Brexit bill was signed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU Council President Charles Michel in Brussels this morning.
It will be flown by RAF jet to the UK for the Prime Minister to sign.
The EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier tweeted: “As the new agreement is signed, I want to thank all teams in the EU Commission, UK Task Force, Council & European Parliament.”
“Each person played their part in building European unity. Thank you.”
