Donatella Versace, 66, sizzles in a racy black PVC outfit on the cover of Vogue Italia

Donatella Versace looked nothing short of sensational in a racy PVC outfit as she graced the front cover of Vogue Italia’s March issue.

The Italian Fashion designer, 66, struck a pose in a sizzling black blazer teamed with skintight leggings and towering heels as she discussed among other things the power of womanhood and body positivity in the interview.

The candid chat saw the star also open up about how the death of her ‘partner in crime’ – her late brother Gianni – impacted her, revealing how his popularity, exuberance and confidence in her left her feeling ‘insecure’ in the early days.

During the chat, Donatella reflects upon launching the top models in the industry back in the 90s, noting that many of these women are more than just friends, they are sisters.

And in speaking of womanhood in current time and the role that women play, she noted that there’s still much to do, though women have adopted a different frame of mind these days.

She said: ‘There’s still a long way to go, but it seems like we’ve taken on a different attitude, also because we women have something more. We’re more emotionally intelligent, and on a managerial level, we’re more able than men to make you feel like part of a company, a journey.’

As well as detailing the power of womanhood, the mother-of-two shared her thoughts on her models feeling body positive and embracing their sensuality, recalling a moment when plus-size model Precious Lee thanked her as nobody had ever put her in a ‘short, tight-fitting dress.’

Donatella pointed out that she thought it ‘necessary’ to do so and didn’t think twice about covering her up as she wanted her to ‘accentuate her femininity’.

Versace is more popular than ever these days, with in demand models including Kaia Gerber and sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid walking the runway for the brand.

And while Versace has enjoyed a creative springtime of late, Donatella has admitted that she herself has gone through a ‘personal renaissance’ as she detailed how her brother’s death had impacted her and her career.

She explained: ‘The truth? Yes, because I’ve set myself free. The death of my brother was so brutal that I spent years in a state of shock. I couldn’t get over it. We were like partners in crime; I was his shadow. We lived together at work and in private.’

Gianni, founder of the luxury brand, was shot and killed outside his Miami Beach mansion in 1997 by killer Andrew Cunanan.

Donatella told how her popular brother would throw lavish parties back in the day and then suddenly leave to go to bed telling her “It’s all yours”, with his sister left to entertain his A-list guests who were all wondering where he was.

On Gianni’s actions, she said: ‘That’s why I was insecure in the early days. I felt like the whole world was watching me; I sensed suspicion in the air. I wasn’t the creative director because someone had promoted me, but because I had to stand in for him. I don’t feel like I made amazingly beautiful collections in the beginning.’
