Drake attended the premiere of Amsterdam in New York City on Sunday evening.

The 35-year-old hitmaker stood out while rocking a well-put-together outfit as he posed for several pictures before he joined the rest of the event’s guests.

The upcoming period drama movie, which features the talents of an ensemble cast, is currently set to be released on October 7.

Drake wore a stylish purple velvet jacket that was offset by a stark white button-up shirt during the premiere.

The rapper, born Aubrey Drake Graham, also wore a set of black pants and matching shoes.

Development on Amsterdam began in 2020, when Christian Bale was first attached to the project.

Margot Robbie and Michael B. Jordan were announced to be in talks to appear in the project that February, although the latter was ultimately replaced by John David Washington.

The movie, which takes place in the 1930s, is centered on a trio of friends who become the prime suspects in a murder investigation.

Much of the physical production on the feature took place during the first half of last year, with Los Angeles serving as a primary filming location.

An insider recently spoke to Page Six about the production of the movie and expressed that Russell and Bale worked on its story for over half a decade. 

‘For six years [they met] to discuss interesting history tidbits, and how they could be formed into characters,’ they said.

The source then remarked that the pair came up with too many ideas to feasibly include in a single screenplay. 

‘They wrote so much that Christian still has cabinets full of different versions of the script,’ they said.

Amsterdam was initially set to be released on November 4, although its debut date was later pushed up to October 7.
