EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Body Coach Joe Wicks' worth falls by £3million

Until now he’s been known as much for his profits as his press-ups, but it seems the ever expanding fortune of the nation’s favourite PE teacher might have, temporarily at least, hit the buffers.

Newly released figures show that the company Joe Wicks uses to channel some of his earnings has had a fall in funds of roughly £3 million.

The net worth of Joe Wicks Ltd has now dropped to £4 million, when last year that figure was closer to £7 million.

However, it’s not all bad news for the burpee-loving, Body Coach guru — who was awarded an MBE at Windsor Castle for his services to fitness — as £1 million in cash as well as £3 million in assets remain on the books, although the cash amount has been cut in half as last year’s accounts showed it to have been at the £2 million mark.

‘Joe’s still got two sets of accounts to come in, so we don’t know the exact figures for his overall income yet, but it is interesting to see the drop for a man who’s been making so much money recently,’ says my man with the calculator.

‘During the pandemic, it was being reported that Wicks was making £115,000 a week, but it was always unlikely he’d continue to earn a Premier League footballer’s salary for ever.

‘Interestingly, there is no pay disclosure either, so it can’t be deciphered exactly what he paid himself as a wage.’

Joe, 36, is married to model Rosie Jones, with whom he shares two children and also a house in Los Angeles.

But he and his wife have seemingly decided to keep the UK as their primary residence and bring up daughter Indie, four, and two-year-old son Marley at their £4.4 million Surrey mansion.

Despite his talent for fitness, Wicks does admit to ’emotional eating’ on occasion. Speaking earlier this year, he said: ‘I’m not perfect. I have days when I do emotional eating and sit on the sofa.

‘Especially if I watch something painful on the news, or something triggers me and makes me feel really stressed and anxious.’

Poor old John Cleese. The increasingly sensitive soul is worried that the lack of diversity in the England women’s football team could lead to the BBC giving the Lionesses the boot.

‘Is it right that they should all be blondes?’ snarls the Monty Python star, 82. ‘The BBC now demands that entertainers in their shows reflect diversity, under a fairly rigid quota system. Is there a danger the BBC will refuse to broadcast matches starring such a non-inclusive team?’

Given the Pythons’ ties to Oxford and Cambridge, Cleese’s comments are no doubt in response to former BBC head of comedy Shane Allen, who previously said that if the Beeb were commissioning a new show these days, ‘it’s not going to be [by] six Oxbridge white blokes’.

Lady Mary is really hogging the limelight

I’m not sure what Downton’s Lady Mary Crawley will have to say about a pig being named after her.

For in a nod to the character, played by 40-year-old actress Michelle Dockery, Highclere Castle has monikered one of its hogs ‘Lady Mary’.

‘We’ve named some of our pigs after characters in Downton Abbey,’ says a statement from the Hampshire pile where Julian Fellowes’s hit period drama is filmed.

‘Highclere is not merely just a castle, it is also a home — to people and to animals.’

Having played other people on screen for 25 years, Colin Farrell says there’s no role more difficult than playing himself.

‘You can’t not bring yourself to the party. You’re always there,’ says the 46-year-old Irishman, whose most recent role is supervillain Penguin in The Batman, the latest big-screen portrayal of the caped crusader.

‘You know, if something’s not right in your personal life then going into work and getting the opportunity to play someone else for a few hours is not going to help.’

The former Ballykissangel actor has since gone on to become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after stars.

Sounds like Kirsty is writing the lyrics of love

When one-time Miss UK Kirsty Roper met her now ex-husband, Swiss billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli, she was inspired to co-write the lyrics for Black Coffee, a No 1 hit for girl band All Saints.

Now, a year after her 21-year marriage to Bertarelli ended in divorce, Kirsty has been struck by Cupid’s arrow once more.

‘Sometimes the stars are aligned — you held my hand and made me shine . . . love knows no bounds when it’s pure and sweet — stable as the ground beneath your feet,’ Kirsty, 51, writes on social media next to this snap.

Perhaps she’ll develop the embryonic lyrics at her £52 million mansion overlooking Lake Geneva, or her £8 million chalet in Gstaad.

Both were part of her £400 million divorce settlement.

Katie Melua on tour makes it two for the road!

For somebody previously married to a world superbike racer, singer Katie Melua is quick off the mark.

After she confirmed in 2020 that she and her husband of eight years, James Toseland, had divorced, I can reveal that not only has the 37-year-old seemingly found love again, but she’s also expecting her first child.

Showing off her baby bump on tour in Zurich, Georgia-born Katie says: ‘Here we are, the team that’s hitting the road this summer.

‘This will be my first tour with a baby bump! I can’t believe I’ve just written that!’

The notoriously private songstress refuses to divulge the name of her new suitor.
