Emma Raducanu makes big rankings jump after storming to Korea Open semi-finals

Despite failing to add any more tournament wins since, she did temporarily break into the world’s top 10 this year, but arrived in New York knowing she needed a good run to protect her ranking points. However, a first round loss to Alize Cornet saw her drop back down to No 77 in the rankings.

In her first event after the US Open, a second round defeat in Slovenia did little to address the slide. However, the British No 1 rediscovered some of her best form in Korea, storming through to the final four and setting up a clash with top seed Jelena Ostapenko.

And in her first semi final since that memorable Slam win, she took the first set before being hampered by injury. After needing a medical timeout in the second set due to a glute problem, she conceded defeat via retirement at 6-4, 3-6, 0-3.
