The actor, 51, recently reprised his role of Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars in the new Disney+ series – and said his jaw drops every time he receives images of himself and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader actor Hayden Christensen.
Speaking in a new cover interview and shoot with British GQ, Ewan said: ‘There’s a lot of homoerotic Obi-Wan/ Hayden [Christensen] fan art that gets sent to me now and again… It’s always a bit of an eye-opener.

The two actors appeared as friends and then advisories in two Star Wars prequels (2002-2005) before reuniting for the 2021 series.
But Ewan, who welcomed son Laurie with wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead, 36, last year, said that he knows what it’s like to be a passionate fan, with him once being devoted to the band Oasis.
He joked: ‘I was in my twenties, but I was like a 14-year-old fan. It was kind of embarrassing.’

The actor went on to say he had been constantly bombarded with requests to reprise the iconic role of Obi-Wan Kenobi before he quit social media.
He said: ‘Irvine Welsh wrote a sequel to Trainspotting, which was called Porno. And everyone asked me if I was going to do that, and would immediately follow up with “And what about Obi-Wan Kenobi, would you play him again?”.
‘I did a bit of social media then – I don’t anymore – but I would see it constantly, this question, are you going to do it again? Are you going to do it again?’.

The Doctor Sleep star insisted he only delivers his best work when he has a ‘burning need’ to do the part.
He explained: ‘If I’ve ever done anything that didn’t come from a burning need to do that play, that part in that film, then it’s never been my best work. Not because I didn’t try harder, or try enough.
‘There’s something magical about that: the need to do something. When you read something and you go, “This has to be me”.’

Speaking about how his relationship with fame has changed over the years he said: ‘I don’t feel like that guy anymore. I don’t have the same relationship with my fame’.
‘That’s to do with age and experience, also just a realisation of what works and what doesn’t.
‘At that time, there was a hedonistic side to my life, which ended up not suiting the rest of my life.’
Ewan is also father to daughters Esther Jamyan, 20, Clara, 19, and Anouk, 10, with ex-wife Eve.
They split in 2017 after 22 years of marriage and their divorce was finalised in August 2020.
