It comes after Ewan discussed his uncle’s role in the Star Wars franchise during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in May.

Ewan said when he was around six or seven that he was blown away when he went to see his uncle Denis in the iconic movies.

Guest host Mike Birbiglia, 43, said he was shocked when he learned that Ewan’s uncle was in the originals.

‘It wasn’t the first movie I went to see in the cinema because that was Bedknobs And Broomsticks,’ Ewan said.

‘But I remember standing outside the school, I was five or six, with my brother and my mom and dad picked me up and they were taking us to the big city to watch the movie that my uncle Denis was in.’

Ewan said he remembered being excited to see his uncle in a movie.

‘Then we sat down and it was Star Wars and it just sort of blew our minds away,’ Ewan said. ‘He played a character called Wedge and he survives all three of the original Star Wars movies.’

Mike held up a picture of Ewan’s uncle as a rebel fighter attacking the Death Star.

‘He’s a real song and dance man, my uncle Denis,’ Ewan said. ‘He will always be my acting hero. If I ever got stuck at work, he’s the only person I would ever phone and ask acting advice from.’
