EXC: Danniella Westbrook reveals plans to front 'massive' drugs doc where she'll interview dealers

Danniella Westbrook has claimed she’s ‘in talks’ to front a new drugs documentary where she’ll interview dealers and families of addicts.

The actress, 48, whose cocaine addiction in the 1990s and 2000s was much publicised, explained she wants to ‘melt down’ the Class-A substance with pharmacists to investigate ‘exactly what people are taking’.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, she discussed how she’s hoping to help others tackle their own demons with the TV project, which she will present.

She said: ‘We’re actually in talks at the minute with three different channels and it’s basically a massive documentary all about drugs and really what a huge epidemic this country is… out of all of Europe, we are the worst epidemic for cocaine.

‘In the whole of Europe, we’re the biggest country in Europe that do the most cocaine and crack cocaine and stuff like that. So for me, I wanted to do a documentary about that and base it on that.’

Danniella revealed she’s hopeful her son Kai, 25, will get involved with the programme, while questioning whether the drug is being disguised as ‘pharmaceutical s**t’ to ‘kill us off’.

She continued: ‘I was actually gonna shoot that with my son to go out and interview families, drug dealers, just people in general, and see how it is, how easy it is to go and buy it.

‘I want to take it to pharmacists and get a pharmacist to melt it all down and see exactly what it is people are actually taking.

‘Is it really cocaine or is it really just a load of pharmaceutical s**t that people are putting in and killing us off, really?’

It was previously reported by The Sun that Danniella’s new documentary is being eyed up by broadcasters as part of a six-figure-deal.

A source said: ‘The show is a documentary style series that will take a look at Danniella’s life and delve into the biggest battles she has conquered, as well as exploring major issues in the world that are affecting thousands of people everyday.

‘The documentary will show how Danniella overcame addiction and rebuilt her family relationships. Fans will get a chance to see a different side to Danniella.

‘The commissioning of the show could be worth around half a million pounds.’

The TV personality’s battle with drugs has been well-publicised, and she famously had her nose reconstructed after her septum collapsed from excessive cocaine use in 2002.

At the height of her use it was reported she would take up to five grams of cocaine a day, blowing close to £250,000 on the drug.

The star has since embarked on multiple rehab stints in order to battle her demons – and revealed she was finally clean in 2020, after attending a clinic in Mijas, Spain.

Most recently, in September 2021, she vowed to give up cocaine and champagne after feeling like a ‘fraud’ for relapsing during her battle with the drug addiction.

Danniella went on to reveal she has a jam-packed working schedule next year and would love to return to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here in the upcoming All Stars series.

The star, who competed in 2003’s series, confessed she hadn’t been approached to take part but is certain she would be crowned Queen of the Jungle if she were to return.

She said in her new MailOnline interview: ‘I haven’t been asked to do that but I would definitely do it now if they asked me to go back because back then I was very spoilt, I was married, literally I broke a nail and I was crying and wanted to go home.

‘Since then, I’ve had a lot go on, I’ve been divorced, I’ve been homeless… had a lot of stuff. I relapsed, I’ve come back from that, Cancer, I came back from that. So now if they ask me to go in for an All Stars, I know I could go in and just win it.

‘I think I’m a stronger person because of everything I’ve been through. Before that, I was very spoilt and very egotistic.

‘But now I think, yeah, if I went back in now, I know I’d win it because I’ve been through some terrible, tough times and I know nothing would bother me at all.’

The Walthamstow-native had married her ex-husband Kevin Jenkins only two years before, and had recently welcomed son Kai and daughter Jodie, now, 21.

Elaborating on her admission, she said: ‘Yeah, I was very spoilt. Especially when I was married, I was spoilt rotten. My ex-husband spoilt me, I got whatever I wanted.

‘And that was when I went into the jungle, I was married to Kevin and my daughter had just turned a year old. I’d never spent a night apart from my children up until that point.

‘When I went in the jungle, within three days I was weeing in a pot and I thought, “Sod this, I’m wanna go back to the [Palazzo] Versace [Hotel].”

‘Now, it wouldn’t bother me at all. I would go in and wanna do every task and everything and experience the whole thing.’

The TV personality said she’d love to be joined in camp by previous contestant Katie Price but, having lived with Gemma Collins in the 2016 Celebrity Big Brother house, would opt not to work with her again.

She said: ‘I’d like to be in there with Kate. Me and Pricey always have a laugh whatever we do so I’d love to be in there with Kate. Janet Street Porter. Some good people… no, not Gemma Collins, sod that mate.

‘No, not with her, I wouldn’t want to be in there with her. I’ve already done Big Brother with her. Do not put me through the hell of another job,’ she joked.

‘Nothing’s bad really, it’s just I’ve done a job with Gemma already. But I think if I went in with Kate, we’d have fun. We’d be the sort that would jump in and just get a task done. I like Kate, Kate’s cool.

‘I also love Harvey and love to watch everything Harvey does, he’s great. But, there are loads of people I’d love to go in with, Janet, Harry Redknapp.’
