FMQs LIVE: Sturgeon braces for bitter showdown after EXTENDING Covid restrictions again


The First Minister extended the legal requirement to wear facemasks in Scotland for the second time. Ms Sturgeon, who blamed the UK’s high Covid rate for the extension, admitted wearing the masks were an “inconvenience” but said it is important to reduce pressure on the NHS. From next Monday, Scots will no longer have to wear a face-covering in places of worship or while attending a marriage ceremony, civil partnership, funeral or commemorative event. But the legal requirement to wear one in other indoor public places such as shops and public transport will only be changed to guidance on Easter Monday, April 18. Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross accused her of refusing to trust the public to make decisions over where and when to wear coverings.
