Foxtel's Real Housewives are searching for a new cast in Sydney and the Gold Coast after

Foxtel’s Real Housewives searching for a new cast in Sydney and the Gold Coast after Melbourne socialites left fans disappointed last season

The Real Housewives reality franchise could be moving to the Gold Coast.

The last season of the Foxtel series about monied socialites was set in Melbourne, but it met with some hard criticism from fans when it finished up last year.

And The Herald Sun now reports that suitable candidates living in one of Queensland’s wealthiest postcodes are being sought out.

Producers also have casting agents looking at possible prospects for a series set in Sydney.

Foxtel considered the Gold Coast five years ago as a location for the hit show, the report said.

Meanwhile, it is understood that there won’t be another season of the Real Housewives of Melbourne.

According to those in the know, new cast members Anjali Rao, Cherry Dipietrantonio, Kyla Kirkpatrick and Simone Elliott failed to charm viewers.

Asked during the Logies ceremony in June whether the show would return, an alleged source told the paper that the recent Melbourne cast had  ‘f***ed up’.

Rumours quickly surfaced that three cast members had been fired following a lacklustre reception to the most recent season.

Original Housewife Janet Roach spilled the shocking casting news on Twitter, hinting that the newer Housewives would be the ones to get the boot.

‘Why do you think Susie [McLean], Sally [Bloomfield] and Venus [Behbahani-Clark] didn’t come back? They wanted to, unfortunately they rated poorly,’ Roach tweeted.

At the time there is some speculation that if the franchise does not return to Foxtel it could find a home on another streamer or broadcaster.

The latest season of the Real Housewives of Melbourne rated poorly on Foxtel, but was a huge hit on streaming, becoming the No. 1 most streamed show on Binge.
