Ghislaine Maxwell no longer fighting to keep names sealed from Virginia Giuffre’s lawsuit

Eight “John Does” were mentioned in Ms Giuffre’s 2015 lawsuit against Maxwell but their identities have remained sealed by the court. Ms Giuffre’s lawyers have been pushing to have the names revealed, something which Maxwell’s lawyers have long been fighting against.

But today they appeared to give up the fight, with Maxwell’s legal team saying they no longer object to the names being unsealed.

A decision will be made by Judge Loretta Preska, who is presiding over the case.

Laura Menninger, one of Maxwell’s lawyers, wrote to Judge Preska, saying: “After careful review of the detailed objections submitted by Non-Party Does 17, 53, 54, 55, 73, 93, and 151, counsel for Ghislaine Maxwell writes to inform the Court that she does not wish to further address those objections.”

While it does not mean the names will be released, it may make it easier for Ms Giuffre’s legal team to persuade the court to do so.

The jury convicted her on five out of six charges.

She is facing up to 65 years behind bars, but her sentence is yet to be decided by US District Judge Alison Nathan.

Maxwell is also facing a trial for perjury.
