A source told The Sun: ‘This will be a huge disappointment for Gordon who has built his fame on the back of cookery shows.

‘Viewers might have understood why a gameshow format might not have suited a chef, but the fact that a foodie show hasn’t fared well will be a mystery.’

Gordon’s new show was ranked seventh for viewing figures overall on Thursday night behind Emmerdale, The Chase, Dragons’ Den, EastEnders, The One Show and Pointless.

MailOnline has approached the BBC for comment.
