Jennifer Lawrence hugs Brian Tyree Henry in a pool in emotional first trailer for Causeway

The emotional first trailer for Causeway starring Jennifer Lawrence and Brian Tyree Henry was released on Thursday.

The minute-and-a-half long clip did not give away too much of the plot for the A24 film but there were some very poignant scenes between the two actors’ characters.

In it Jennifer, 32, stars as a US soldier named Lynsey who suffers a traumatic brain injury while fighting in Afghanistan and struggles to adjust to life back home in New Orleans.

Brian, 40, plays her friend James as they confide in one another as they try to navigate the next phase of their respective lives.

The clip begins with Lynsey and James sitting on a bench as her eyes are wandering before he asks: ‘Hey, you good?,’ she nods and takes a deep breath.

She then goes to the home that she grew up in as their conversation continued in the background.
