It was reported on Twitter that a fire alert had caused services from the station to be delayed or suspended.
Transport for London confirmed on their website that the Underground station had been closed and that passengers could use their tickets on bus routes.
London Fire Brigade shared details about the incident on their website.
They wrote: “Firefighters were called to reports of smoke issuing at King’s Cross Underground Station.
“A small part of a lift motor room was damaged by fire. A woman was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
