Lewis Hamilton 'transformed' ahead of Belgian Grand Prix as Brit prepares title comeback

Lewis Hamilton will head into this month’s Belgium Grand Prix ‘transformed’ after making the most of his break from F1. All drivers and teams have been given a four-week respite from the hectic schedule, with the action resuming in Spa on the weekend of August 26-28.

And the seven-time world champion will return seemingly rejuvenated after enjoying a summer break in Africa. The Mercedes man visited four different countries on the continent, and regularly kept fans updated on social media as, amongst other things, he mixed with locals, trekked up a volcano, and walked amongst gorillas.

Prior to the break, Hamilton was making strides to recover from his awful start to the F1 season, with the Silver Arrows plagued by the issue of porpoising. Harrowing moments for the F1 icon included being eliminated in Q1 in Saudi Arabia, as well as being lapped by 2021 rival Max Verstappen in Emilia Romagna.

But although he’s yet to register a win in 2022, Hamilton has notched a podium finish in five consecutive races, most recently in Hungary where he was second to Verstappen. Whilst his recovery has come way too late for a title challenge this year, hopes are high he will feature among the contenders in 2023, especially with the FIA agreeing to address the porpoising issue in the sport.
