Letting her luxuriously wavy blonde locks down, she accentuated her features with makeup for her latest outing in the city that never sleeps.

Lindsey complemented her jacket with a matching fuzzy purse, slipping into a pair of black slacks and balancing on stilettos.

After winning four World Cup overall championships, she announced her retirement from skiing in 2019 following multiple knee injuries.

In a new excerpt from her memoir obtained by NBC Sports she reflected on how she adjusted to life after she retired.

‘Over that first year in retirement, I traveled through all the stages of grief – denial, pain, anger, bargaining, depression, reconstruction, acceptance,’ she wrote.

‘In a way, though, it only seemed fitting, because it was like part of me had died. I needed to fully mourn the chapter that was closing before I could embrace whatever came next,’ added the Minnesota-born sportswoman.

She explained: ‘I desperately missed the mental cycle that athletes exist inside— preparation, hard work, feedback, performance. You win or lose, then you get back up and do it again. Without that singular focus, I felt aimless.’

Eventually she met a psychologist called Dr. Armando Gonzalez who introduced her to a technique called ‘brainspotting’ that she felt worked for her.

‘Practically, it means you sit and actively focus on your stored traumas, sometimes for hours at a time. It can be very, very hard, and emotionally intense,’ she shared

‘Some days, I would feel so mentally drained, I would need to immediately sleep it off, but it really does work. On the other side, I’ve found it did allow me to fully process and move past some of those stored narratives.’

At the end of 2020 it emerged that she and hockey player PK Subban had ended their more than yearlong engagement and three-year romance.

PK and Lindsey had only warm words for one another in when they popped over to Instagram to reveal their relationship was over.

‘Lindsey is one of the most kind and caring people I know. I will always treasure our time as a couple together and the many laughs we shared,’ he wrote.

Meanwhile she gushed: ‘Over the past 3 years PK and I have had some incredible times together. He is a kind, good man, and someone I respect a great deal.’

‘That was the first time after I was divorced that I really felt like I was doing things a hundred percent on my own,’ she said.

The accomplished athlete and former Olympian added: ‘I was able to channel all of my emotions into ski racing and it worked out well.’
