Grieving Liz Hurley on the eve of Shane Warne’s funeral: Actress clutches son Damian’s hand in west London in first public appearance since the cricketer’s death – and 10,000 miles from where private family service will be held for him on Sunday

Clad in black on the eve of ex-lover Shane Warne’s funeral, a sombre Elizabeth Hurley clutches her son Damian’s hand in their first public appearance since the cricketer’s death.

The actress, who remained close to Warne after their three-year romance ended in 2013, was pictured in West London as she left the set of her new romantic comedy, Christmas In The Caribbean, dressed in a black blazer and black suede boots.

Warne’s family will bid farewell to him in a private funeral today, but yesterday Liz said: ‘My heart aches that I can’t be in Australia tomorrow for Shane’s funeral.

‘I was filming last night and, with the time jump, physically can’t get there.’

She posted photos from their engagement on social media and said: ‘It still hasn’t really sunk in that he’s gone.

‘It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have another Lion hug, but our memories will live forever. RIP Lionheart, with love your Luna.’

Liz, 56, and her 19-year-old lookalike son share a famously close bond, and clearly looked to each other for support after Warne’s death.

The 52-year-old, known for his party lifestyle, died of a heart attack at a £2,000-a-night villa on a lads’ holiday in Thailand.

Later this month, 50,000 fans are expected to gather at Melbourne Cricket Ground for a star-studded public memorial.
