Lupita Nyong'o shares exciting throwback photos of her time on set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever


Lupita Nyong’o gifted her fans a new Instagram photo series earlier Sunday containing an assortment of behind-the-scenes snaps from her time on set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The actress, 39, showed off her fit physique in her character’s costume as she captured memories with other cast members while filming the anticipated sequel.

The Little Monsters star reprised her role as Nakia in the second film, which has garnered a whopping total of $675 million in the global box office since its release earlier this month on November 11.

The Us actress typed out a short caption to her 10.2 million fans and followers, ‘More from forever in Wakanda,’ with a black heart emoji added at the end. 

In the first snap she shared, Lupita could be seen fully dressed in her figure-hugging costume next to actress Michaela Coel, who portrays Aneka in the film. 

The duo could be seen standing outside under the sun before stepping onto set to shoot a scene. 

The second photo showed Lupita happily taking a selfie closely next to Winston Duke, who tackled the role of M’Baku. While he was dressed fully as his character, the actress was seen wearing a plain black coat to stay warm.

The beauty also uploaded a photo of the Dora Milaje dressed in their notable, red costumes as they sat in chairs waiting to be called onto the set. 

Lupita snuck in a snap of Winston deep in conversation with actress Danai Gurira in between takes as the crew prepared for another scene. 

She additionally took another quick selfie with Aba Arthur as the two flashed excited smiles towards the camera. 

When talking about her character in the Black Panther franchise, Lupita expressed to Harper’s Bazaar that she has a ‘soft spot’ for Nakia. ‘She feels familiar, and Wakanda feels like home.’

The star further added, ‘Black Panther was the first movie where I really got to get dolled up. It felt great—all the clothing and makeup looks.’

Celebrities and other social media users flooded the comments as they fanned over the special glimpse of what being on set of the successful Marvel film was like. 

Actress and singer Janelle Monáe left a string of black heart emojis, referencing to Lupita’s caption. Another user had typed, ‘I WILL NEVER GET TIRED OF THIS CONTENT.’ 

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was officially released in theaters on November 11, and has topped the number one spot on the box office charts for three weeks in a row. 

According to Deadline, the sequel has already garnered a total of $675 million in the global box office since its premiere. 

The first Black Panther film, which was released in 2018, raked in a whopping total of around $1.3 billion worldwide.

Lupita has previously given fans a special glimpse of the film’s set, and recently shared a snap over the Thanksgiving holiday. 

In the photo, she could be seen posing with other cast members from the Black Panther sequel, including Winston Duke. 

She added the caption, ‘So many reasons to be thankful,’ along with the hashtag, ‘#ThisIsForTheVegetarians.’ 

The star also shared a look at her swim training for Wakanda Forever on Instagram and TikTok earlier this month, where she swam with weighted dumbbells under the water.
