Marcus Mumford ends rumors he is leaving Mumford & Sons by revealing he got ‘permission’ from the band he is ‘still in’ to create his first solo album
Marcus Mumford has been trying to clear the air about rumors surrounding his forthcoming solo album and his future with Mumford & Sons.
The British-American singer, 35, recently caused fans to speculate if he was parting ways with the members of the Grammy winning group after news broke that he’s working on a solo album.
On Friday night, the Guiding Light singer attempted to put an end to the rumors at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles as he joined Brandi Carlile, 41, on stage.

Before singing a new ballad with Carlile, the songwriter took the microphone, to describe the process of making new music.
‘I have openly cried four times this evening…’ he said, according to Variety.
‘Same,’ agreed Brandi.

‘Mostly because of what an impact my friend Brandi has had on my life since we became friends quite a long time ago now,’ the front man added.
Next, he confirmed he was creating a new record, which received a ‘full blessing and permission’ to do from the band he’s ‘still in.’
The statement was greeted with applause from the crowd as he continued: ‘She heard a couple of songs and put her arm around me and said, ‘I’m gonna help you do whatever it is you need to do to finish this.’ And so we went into the studio the next day and wrote and recorded this song, which is the last song on the record.’
