Mark Wahlberg reveals his four children are 'mortified' by his old Marky Mark videos


Decades before he became one of the biggest movie stars in the world, Mark Wahlberg was best known as a rapper known as Marky Mark… which has ‘mortified’ his four children.

The 50-year-old actor shares four children – 18-year-old Ella, 16-year-old Michael, 13-year-old Brendan and 12-year-old Grace with his wife Rhea.

The actor was promoting his new film Father Stu where he was asked about his old Marky Mark videos, which he revealed are not received well by his kids.

The Boston native formed Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch in 1990 and had a number one hit song with Good Vibrations featuring Loleatta Holloway.

He also found fame with a number of underwear ads for Calvin Klein before starting his acting career.

Ellen mentioned that things from the 90s are coming back, and she was wondering if Marky Mark could possibly come back.

‘Yes… under the right circumstances,’ he said, though when she showed a photo of him in his underwear, he added, ‘I don’t know about that far, but for the right circumstances, for the right cause, yes absolutely.’

When Ellen asked if his kids have seen him perform, Wahlberg added, ‘They’ve seen videos of me performing and they’re mortified.

‘If they see the picture with me in the underwear… oh my God, they’d be so embarrassed,’ Wahlberg added.

He said his son Michael just turned 16 and, ‘he gets embarrassed by everything I do, even the stuff that people think are cool in 2022, like movies and stuff, “Dad that’s so dumb. Dad that’s terrible.”‘

The actor added that he did take them all to see Uncharted, and, ‘they liked it a lot,’ but they wondered why he didn’t play the main character and he said he was ‘too old.’

‘They were really into Transformers for a short amount of time, they were dying to see Ted but my wife wouldn’t let them see it,’ joking his kids, ‘aren’t my biggest fans.’

Wahlberg was promoting his new movie Father Stu, which will be released in theaters nationwide April 15.

He stars as Stuart Long, based on his incredible true story as a former actor and boxer who found his way to the priesthood. 

Wahlberg heard the story from a real priest and self-financed the movie himself, which he stars in and produces.
