Martin Compston reveals his excitement for Line Of Duty reunion… but admits he’s delighted to finally use his real Scottish accent on screen in new drama Our House

Martin Compston is preparing to reunite with his Line Of Duty co-stars for a charity event later this month.

The actor spoke about his excitement at seeing co-stars Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar and show creator Jed Mercurio at the An Audience with AC-12 event in Inverclyde during an appearance on Lorraine on Thursday.

The TV appearance also saw the star discuss his other major new role – current ITV drama Our House, with the actor admitting he was delighted to use his real Scottish accent this time around.

An Audience with AC-12 will take place on March 19 with funds raised going to Ardgowan Hospice in nearby Greenock, where Martin grew up.

Speaking about the charity event to fellow Scot Lorraine Kelly, Martin gushed: ‘The hospice, I’ve been a patron for a few years now, and this year I was talking to the guys and it was an excuse to get together.’

The event sold out in one minute, and Martin admitted he was nervous about how the Line Of Duty stars will keep the eager audience entertained.

‘Ticket sales have been great, but who knows what we’ll be talking about,’ he laughed. ‘I haven’t really spent that much time with the guys.’

‘It’s over 10 years we’ve been working together now, and the scenes are so intense, and you want to be with people you trust.’

Martin also discussed Our House, the ITV drama he is currently starring in alongside Tuppence Middleton which follows the separated couple after Fi (Middleton) returns to the family home to find it has been sold and new occupants have moved in.

She also can’t track down estranged husband Bram, played by Martin.

Martin admitted to Lorraine that he was excited to use his own accent in the drama, after years of playing his Line Of Duty character Steve Arnott as English.

‘For Bram, on paper he does some terrible, terrible things so we kind of needed to make him charming and I think the Scottish accent kind of helps with that a wee bit,’ he said of the drama which is based on the best selling novel by Louise Candlish.

Lorraine also asked the star about family life across the pond in Las Vegas, where he lives with his wife, Tianna Chanel Flynn and their son Brodie, two.

‘I am partial to a game of blackjack to be fair,’ he quipped of what attracted him to Vegas, but added that the real reason the family have settled there is because of the anonymity it gives him.

‘When I get to Vegas the anonymity I love there, it’s nice to just hang out with the wife and the wee one,’ Martin explained.

‘Don’t get me wrong everyone has been incredible kind to me here, but it’s nice when you’re with them and have some quiet time.’

The final episode of Our House airs on ITV at 9pm on Thursday.
