Girls Aloud are set to reunite for a fundraising event in honour of their late bandmate Sarah Harding, after her tragic death from cancer aged 39 last year.

Nadine Coyle confirmed on Monday that the band will come together for the first time since 2013, in the hope of raising money for life-saving medical equipment that could help diagnose cancer sooner.

In September, Sarah passed away after a year battling breast cancer, with her devastated bandmates Nadine, Cheryl, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, sharing a slew of tributes to social media at the time.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Nadine revealed: ‘We’re planning a night for an event to raise money in honour of Sarah.

‘She’s very much in the forefront of our minds.’

‘We want to raise money for a piece of medical equipment that helps diagnose cancer earlier so people can be treated. We definitely want to do something to help others.’

Nadine added that even seven months after Sarah’s passing her death still ‘affects them deeply.’

The anniversary would be the first time Girls Aloud have appeared together since 2013, when they split after celebrating their 10th Anniversary.

In February, Kimberley told MailOnline that there were no plans for a reunion in the immediate future, because none of them were ‘in that headspace at the moment.’

She said: ‘It’s amazing that we’re coming up to 20 years and there’ll be lots of reminiscing personally for us as a group, the four of I’m sure will be looking back at old memories.

‘But I think that our heads are not in a space to be doing anything as a band, it wouldn’t feel right without Sarah. But yeah, we’ll definitely be doing lots of reminiscing, it’s amazing that it’s been that long. 20 years, it’s crazy!’

Kimberley added that for the remaining members, the occasion will be significantly poignant, adding: ‘It feels like quite a big landmark for us, it’s going to be very bittersweet. But we’ll just deal with it as best as we can at the time.’

Nadine revealed last year she believed she had received signs from her late Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding, including when she was at home and ‘something flew off the shelf’.

The singer, told described the rough time she endured ‘awful’ when Sarah passed away in September 2021.

Speaking on The Ryan Tubridy Show on RTE Radio 1 in October, Nadine told how she had filmed Irish musical talent show Last Singer Standing where she thinks Sarah sent her signs of her presence.

She said: ‘I was so close to her in life. There’s definitely been things, she’s made her presence known a few times. As I was shooting the show, it was right in the middle of it all and people were being so kind.

‘There was a couple of days when the headphones just flew across the table and it happened three days in a row and the makeup girls were saying, “that has to be Sarah.”

‘One night I was taking about me in my house and something flew off the shelf. I was like, “Is this Sarah?” I’m still thinking she’s going to phone.’

Sarah passed away on September 5th 2021, with her death confirmed by her mother Maria in a statement shared to the star’s Instagram account, which said that she ‘slipped away peacefully’ after her cancer battle.
