Nick Kyrgios faces off against NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet for Starlight celebrity basketball game


The stars aligned at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday.

Tennis ace Nick Kyrgios took on a host of familiar faces on the basketball court for the Starlight Celebrity game.

The 26-year-old athlete showed his range of skills outside of his preferred sport, memorably facing off against NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, 39.

At one point Nick spectacularly denied the politician his shot at the basket, slapping the ball out of Dominic’s hand. 

Home and Away hunk Dan Ewing showed off his impressive guns beneath his All Stars singlet. 

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here beauty Maria Thattil, 29, looked poised she took her own shot.

Later, the politician get even closer to opposing captain Ben Fordham, with the pair literally touching noses for their stare down. 

Fordham at one point posed for a selfie with celebrity chef Luke Mangan and Commissioner of the New South Wales Police Force Mick Fuller.

Meanwhile, Weekend Today co-host Belinda Russell was a blonde bombshell on the court as she lined up to play.

Former St George-Illawarra Dragons halfback Jamie Soward also donated his time to a good cause, with the retired NRL star showing off his numerous tattoos beneath his own singlet.

Also in attendance were NBL legend Shane Heal and former South Sydney Rabbitohs star Jimmy Smith. 

Nick Kyrgios was in his element on the court starring in his side’s comprehensive win.

The tennis star is a noted basketball fan and plays whenever he can.

Perrottet and 2GB breakfast show and television personality Ben Fordham captained opposing sides in the game, which tipped-off at 1.50 pm.

Kyrgios played for Fordham’s side and helped them run away with a dominant 37-13 victory.

NBL commentator Corey Williams took to Twitter to shower praise on the Australian Open men’s doubles champion.

All money raised went to Starlight to help sick kids.
