She compared the old photo to one she took on set after filming an ’emotional’ final scene with the hit Channel 4 show.

Born in 1987 in Galway, Nicola decided she wanted to become an actress at the age of five.

She graduated with a degree in English and Classical Civilisation from the National University of Ireland before training at the Oxford School of Drama and Birmingham School of Acting.
After suffering from depression, she left London and returned to Ireland where she worked part-time at an optician.
However it was when she took on the role of Penelope Featherington, the youngest Featherington daughter, in Netflix smash hit period drama Bridgerton in 2020 that her star really soared.
Star: Nicola has been the most successful member of the Derry Girls cast so far, having landed a role in Bridgerton which has seen her catapulted to the A-list
She has since been invited to the Met Gala, appeared on a variety of hit programmes including RuPaul’s Drag Race and was named one of Vogue’s Best Dressed Women of 2021.
It comes as the final episode of Derry Girl’s aired over in the UK, and last month, the cast admitted they are ‘still processing’ their final day on set.
In a new interview with Cosmopolitan UK, the stars teased at an ’emotional’ final chapter with Nicola (who plays Clare Devlin) gushing that ‘it’s a real love letter to the fans.’
Sad times: Nicola explained that it was an emotional rollercoaster putting together the final episodes, because of the pandemic delays
She explained that it was an emotional rollercoaster putting together the final episodes, because of the pandemic delays.
She said: ‘It was hard to get to this point because we were delayed so many times by Covid and so many other reasons.
‘So getting to do it was a challenge…But I just hope that we’ve done the fans of the show proud because that’s what we all want so much,’ the actress explained.’
Elsewhere, Nicola has teased that she has secured a role in the upcoming live-action Barbie as she dismissed Doctor Who casting rumours.
The Bridgerton star confirmed that she is starring in a project alongside Ncuti Gatwa as she spoke at Netflix’s Bridgerton FYC event in Los Angeles last week.
She prompted rumours she would star in Doctor Who after she posed with Ncuti, 29, at the BAFTA TV Awards just hours after he was confirmed as the 14th Doctor on the BBC show.
But Nicola has now denied the speculation, telling Variety: ‘We are doing something together, but it’s not Doctor Who.’
The Derry Girls actress instead teased that Sex Education’s Ncuti had already been announced for the mystery project, but she had not yet.
And Ncuti appeared to hint that their joint project is the upcoming Barbie film as he shared a snap of the pair to Instagram alongside the caption, ‘a pair of dolls’.
MailOnline has contacted Nicola’s representatives for comment.
