He’s known to ruffle feathers with his controversial opinions.
And Noel Gallagher has taken a savage swipe, at Harry Styles, claiming the former One Direction star, 28, is not a real musician.
The Oasis hitmaker, who previously hit out at the star’s songwriting skills in 2017, offered his thoughts on Harry’s new track As It Was, claiming stars who stem from The X Factor have ‘nothing to do with real music.’
‘You’re not telling me Harry Styles is currently in a room writing a song’: Noel Gallagher has said Harry is more suited to being in a room full of girls than writing songs
Noel told The Daily Star’s WIRED column: ‘The X Factor is a TV show, it’s got nothing to do with music, it’s got nothing to do with music whatsoever, and anything that has come from that, that’s got nothing to do with music’.
‘You’re not telling me Harry Styles is currently in a room somewhere writing a song. With any joy, he’ll be surrounded by a lot of girls.
‘I can assure you he’s not got an acoustic guitar out trying to write a middle eight for something.’
Noel previously hit out at Harry’s song writing skills in 2017, saying ‘my cat could’ve written that in ten minutes’ when referencing Harry’s hit Sign Of The Times.
Ouch! Noel suggested that The X Factor stars don’t work as hard as ‘real’ musicians, continuing: ‘You’re not telling me Harry Styles is currently in a room somewhere writing a song. With any joy, he’ll be surrounded by a lot of girls’
Controversy: Noel is known for being in Oasis alongside his now rival brother Liam Gallagher, and often expresses controversial opinions (Oasis pictured during the 1990s)
Harry wrote tracks on both of his solo studio albums, the 2017 self-titled Harry Styles and 2019’s Fine Line, and he has written for a number of other artists.
He wrote Just a Little Bit of Your Heart with Johan Carlsson which featured on Ariana Grande’s second studio album My Everything in 2014.
The performer wrote Someday for Meghan Trainor, which was recorded by Meghan and Michael Bublé and he co-wrote the Bleachers track Alfie’s Song (Not So Typical Love Song) which was included in the soundtrack for the 2018 film Love, Simon.
He has eighty-four writing credits under his name, including some unreleased tracks, and has also written for bands Augustana and Kodaline, singer Gavin DeGraw, and he has collaborated with OneRepublic lead singer Ryan Tedder, Snow Patrol pianist Johnny McDaid and John Legend.
Before going solo, Harry wrote numerous songs for One Direction while signed to Simon Cowell’s record label Syco Music.
It comes as Harry has returned with his new solo single, As It Was – with the music video gaining popularity among fans.
Back in 2017, it was following the release of Harry’s single Sign Of The Times that Noel decided to take a dig at the singer.
He said: ‘People of my age have let themselves go, they’re fat, balding idiots with fading tattoos. They sit in their garage and write s**** like ‘Sign Of The Times’ for Harry Styles. Which, quite frankly, my cat could have written in about 10 minutes!’

However, it seems Noel may be in the minority, as both his wife, Sara MacDonald, and his rival brother Liam Gallagher, 49, were fans of Harry’s previous hit.
Liam expressed sympathy and a likeness to the singer when he was asked if he liked Sign of The Times during an interview, saying: ‘I don’t mind it, man. There’s some interesting bits in it. I mean, I don’t know how it f****** goes, but fair play to him.
‘I’ve got the weight of Oasis still hanging over me and I’m sure I’ll always be that guy from Oasis, so I’m sure he’s carrying an equal weight.
‘If he wants to get out of that pop world and into something with a bit more substance I think that’s a good thing,’ he finished, showing his support to Harry.
