Phoebe Burgess reveals she has had breast reduction surgery

Phoebe Burgess has revealed that she secretly had surgery to reduce the size of her bust two years ago.

The 33-year-old podcaster shared the news with her fans in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

Alongside a series of photos of the aftermath of the procedure, Phoebe explained that she had been concealing her ample cleavage in her ‘armpits’ for years and using minimising bras before deciding on the surgery.

‘I have had a very private, but very up and down relationship with my boobs. We’re volatile. If we were in an actual relationship I would have dumped them years ago’ she began her lengthy caption.

‘But, I learned to love, appreciate and even marvel at them again – when they supported me so graciously and steadfastly through those early breastfeeding months of motherhood, with a great milk supply (the mastitis wasn’t so appreciated) – and I look back on those as our golden years… but in 2020, I made a decision that would alter my breasts forever.

‘I’ve never said anything about it, not through shame or even a desire to hide the fact that I had my breasts surgically made smaller, but mainly because I never thought it was all that interesting to anyone – other than me. And my boobs, obvs.’

'The pressure on my neck, my nerves, my injured back was mounting…. there was a dragging, a mind-numbingly, never-endingly painful pull… and so I made a decision by myself. For myself. And I would make it again and again' she wrote

She went on to explain that she would discuss the process in the new episode of her podcast, Under The Gloss.

‘If you’re thinking uhh what boobs Phoebe ? I had become the master of concealing them’ she explained.

'I thought this was all normal. And whilst I believed wholeheartedly other women looked beautiful owning their bodies, including women with larger cup sizes than me, I just couldn’t connect to mine,' Phoebe went on

'BUT this wasn't enough for me to surgically alter my body. I acknowledge some women wanted larger breasts. Some were forced to lose theirs. My issues felt superficial. Until the way they looked or felt naked stopped being the only issue I had with them' she wrote

‘Beneath strategic outfits, I did everything from cling wrap hacks, to the Kim K lift-and-squish using duct tape – which does feel as though you are ripping your own nipples off when you remove, and, of course, there was the multiple bra layering system where I’d wear one supportive sports bra under a three-sizes-too-small-sports-crop designed to flatten (not ideal for deep breathing)’ she wrote.

‘Every bra I owned – and still own-  are what the lady at DJ’s [David Jones] called ‘The Minimiser’ – no underwire, zero padding, and I bought them so tight my boobs would sit, literally, under my armpits.
