PICTURED: Jaden Smith heads home in LA after visiting father Will Smith after shocking Oscars slap

Jaden Smith was seen returning from his father Will Smith’s Los Angeles-area home on Monday, as the Oscar-winning actor issued an apology to Chris Rock after slapping him at Sunday’s Academy Awards.

The 23-year-old actor-rapper reportedly spent two hours at his father’s home prior to departing in his Tesla.

Will Smith, 53, dominated the headlines after the movie industry’s biggest night for both his Best Actor Oscar win for King Richard, and his slap of Rock, who made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.

The comic, 57, said to Pinkett Smith, 50, ‘Jada, I love you, G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it,’ which did not amuse her, as she has been open about being diagnosed with alopecia, which causes hair loss.

Smith walked onstage and smacked Rock, then returned to his seat and shouted at him twice, ‘Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!’ to a stunned audience at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Jaden on Sunday took to Twitter to pledge support for his father, tweeting, ‘And That’s How We Do It’ following the broadcast.

The Malibu, California-born star was also seen with his family at an afterparty celebrating his father’s victory.

Smith on Sunday won his first Academy Award for playing Richard Williams in the sports drama. He had previously been nominated for Best Actor twice, for his portrayal of Muhammad Ali in 2001’s Ali, and for his work in 2006’s The Pursuit of Happyness, which he appeared opposite Jaden in.

Smith, in an emotional acceptance speech following his win, apologized to the Academy and the other nominees but not to Rock.

‘Art imitates life: I look like the crazy father,’ he said. ‘Just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things.’

Smith issued a more thorough apology on Instagram Monday, calling himself ‘a work in progress’ after the unprecedented incident.

‘Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive,’ Smith in a statement. ‘My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.’

He continued: ‘I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.’

Smith also apologized to the Academy, the show’s producers, guests and viewers, as well as the Williams family and his King Richard cast and crew.

Rock did not press charges in connection with the incident, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

On Monday, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences said in a statement that they condemned ‘the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show’ and ‘have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our bylaws, standards of conduct and California law.’
