Succession star Brian Cox faithfully recreates Sydney Sweeney's iconic bathroom scene from Euphoria

Brian Cox has played an immense variety of characters in his storied career, though he pulled off a first on Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live: playing a teenage girl.

The 75-year-old Scottish acting legend channeled his inner teenage girl by portraying Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie Howard in a memorable scene from Season 2 of Euphoria.

Cox threw on a cowboy hat and a blue plaid shirt to perform the scene in the third episode of Euphoria Season 2, where Cassie ‘freaks out’ in front of her friends Rue (Zendaya), Maddy (Alexa Demie) and Kat (Barbie Ferreira).

Season 2 of Euphoria started at a New Year’s Eve party, where Cassie ended up having sex with Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), her best friend Maddy’s ex-boyfriend.

While Maddy almost caught them in the act, their secret was intact for most of the season, though it clearly took a toll on Cassie, as illustrated in this bathroom scene.

She walks into the ladies room wearing a low-cut blue plaid top and a blue skirt, which leads Rue to wonder if she’s auditioning for the play Oklahoma.

Cox’s re-created scene picks up with Rue asking if she’s in Oklahoma, as the Emmy-winning actor responds, ‘Oh my God, do I look like I’m in Oklahoma?’

The scene seamlessly cuts to Kat asking if she’s not auditioning for Oklahoma then, ‘why do you look like that?’

‘Like what?’ he responds as Maddy says, ‘A country music star,’ as he frantically responds, ‘In a good way or a bad way,’ as it cuts to one of the more memorable lines of Season 2, Maddy’s, ‘B***h, you better be joking.’

Kat asks if Cass is OK, as Cox responds, ‘No! Yes! F**k it! I’m in love with Nate Jacobs and he’s in love with me, and don’t you f***ing give me that look Maddy because I didn’t f**k your boyfriend. You two were broken up for three weeks and three days before we even had sex. So I didn’t betray you. Plus you two are terrible for each other and you know, you know I’m right. And you guys, you guys can judge me if you want but I do not care cause I have never, ever, ever been happier.’

Then Rue’s voice-over kicks in, revealing, ‘But she didn’t say that. In fact, it was much weirder,’ where Cox then deviates hilariously from the real scene.

‘Don’t f**k with me, Maddy. I’m one crazy-a** b***h!’ Cox says, before he starts munching on an apple as the scene comes to an end, as he says under his breath, ‘sometimes it is a big f***ing competition.’

In the real scene, Rue reveals, ‘She just stared straight ahead like she’s doing now and didn’t say a word.’

Cox won his first Emmy in 2020 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for playing billionaire media magnate Logan Roy in HBO’s Succession.

Both Euphoria and Succession were renewed for their respective third and fourth seasons on HBO, though it’s unclear when those new seasons may debut.
