Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis was spotted filming the final scenes of the third series in Richmond on Thursday alongside his co-stars.

While fans impatiently wait for the third season of Apple TV Plus’ critically-acclaimed series Ted Lasso, star/writer Brett Goldstein confirmed that would be the show’s last.

The actor, 46, looked in high spirits as he donned a black hoodie which read ‘Run The Jewels’ while strolling around the set.

He sported brown trousers and a colourful pair of Nike trainers, while adding a black and white cap to the ensemble.

Jason has said on many occasions that he and co-creators Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly had planned just a three-season arc for the series.

Goldstein, 41, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for playing the hard-nosed Roy Kent, confirmed in an interview with The Sunday Times that Ted Lasso is ending after the highly-anticipated Season 3.

‘We are writing it like that. It was planned as three [seasons],’ Goldstein said, before joking, ‘Spoiler alert — everyone dies.’

The show has one of the most unorthodox origin stories, with star Sudeikis first portraying Lasso in a series of commercials for NBC Sports, promoting their coverage of the Premier League in 2013.

Lawrence, creator of hit shows like Scrubs and Cougar Town, was brought in to help develop the show in 2017 and the show was picked up by Apple TV Plus in 2019.

The show earned critical acclaim upon its debut in the summer of 2020, following Sudeikis’ title character as he’s brought over as an American college football coach to coach the Premiere League team AFC Richmond… despite having no experience coaching soccer.

Despite his lack of experience (and success), his positive mentality wins ultimately wins over the hearts of the fans, his players and team owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham).

‘The nice part of the show, is about people trying to be better. And that’s unusual,’ Goldstein said.

‘Our public discourse [on social media] is terrible. It is now normal for people to be horrible to each other,’ he added.

Goldstein’s Roy Kent starts the series as AFC Richmond’s captain, though his best days are behind him as he starts to realize his playing days are coming to an end.

He retires from playing at the end of the first season, and becomes a coach for AFC Richmond in the show’s second season.

The actor and writer also signed an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television (one of the Ted Lasso producers) where he’s developing a new series for Apple TV Plus called Shrinking starring Jason Segel, who plays a therapist that starts breaking all the rules and tells patients exactly what he thinks.
